Congratulations and may God's blessings be with the Episcopal Church's newly elected and confirmed Presiding Bishop, The Rt Rev. Michael Curry (currently the Bishop of the Diocese of North Carolina). This is an historic vote as he is the first Presiding Bishop of color.

RETREAT ALTERNATIVES
There will no longer be a First Order presence on the east coast. The lack of young able-bodied friars is the largest reason. With transfers and leaves of absences pending there are only 9 friars in America (6 of who are elderly or ill). This leaves Little Portion Friary unable to continue operating and they will transferring everyone (and everything) to the west coast in 18-24 months. Let us pray to God and Francis for the Order and for vocations.
Little Portion will most likely stop taking guests after June 2015. With that in mind, Brother Eric gave several suggestions for places to make retreats that we may not be familiar with. The included:
Holy Cross Monastery - West Park, NY
Daylesford Abbey - Paoli, PA
The Society of St John the Evangelist - Cambridge, MA
Melrose-Bluestone farm of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit - Brewster, NY
Edmundites Retreat Center - Mystic, CT
Sisters of the Transfiguration - Cincinnati, OH

FROM THE "PRINCIPLES" OF THE THIRD ORDER:"Tertiaries endeavor to serve others in active work. We try to find expression for each of the three aims of the Order in our lives, and whenever possible actively help others who are engaged in similar work. The chief form of service which we have to offer is to reflect the love of Christ, who, in his beauty and power, is the inspiration and joy of our lives."
